In these times where we need to have the most healthy immune system possible, as we hopefully start to integrate more socially, even at a distance in the next few weeks. An interesting interview between Dr Jeff Bland and Dr Mark Hyman that I came across recently that you may find beneficial.
The interview outlines that our immune cells are made in our bone marrow and they are imprinted with our lifestyle and conditions of our environment. So if we live:
- A sedentary lifestyle – with little movement and exercise.
- With a nutritional deficient diet – High Intake of refined food, sugar and Trans fats.
- With poor sleeping habits – late nights, electromagnetic devices on all the time.
- Exposure to a lot of negativity in our lives.
- Operate daily with high stress levels.
Then our immune cells are imprinted / coded with these markers outlined above. So in supporting the immune system which has the poor quality imprints as outlined above, we are supporting and boosting a compromised system. We are pretty much wasting our time and our resources unless we work on firstly rejuvenating the immune system.
Rejuvenating the immune system
Every 10 seconds our immune system produces:
- One million white blood cells
- 20 million red blood cells
- And 30 million platelets.
So this provides us ample opportunity to rejuvenate and re code new immune cells with a healthier and a higher quality imprint. We can do this by taking care of ourselves more and changing our lifestyle to include:
- Healthy exercise and movement
- Healthy sleep pattern
- Stress management
- Mindfulness and gratitude.
But we also really need to include one of the most important elements in our diet which is Phytochemicals Food.
Phytochemical are chemicals produced by plants through its metabolism. They generally have biological activity in the plant host and play a role in plant growth or defence against competitors, pathogens or predators. These phytochemicals help the plant defend itself from damaging environments, toxins, viruses, bacteria etc.
Nutritional Needs:
By consuming phytochemicals we can also help to defend our system and rejuvenate the imprints of our immune cells in our bone marrow.
To be most effective we need to consume a large variation of plants with these phytonutrients a few times during the day. Consuming a diet filled with variety of the sources of the phytonutrients, when combined has a positive effect.
They are three broad classes: Phytochemicals from plants, medicinal plants and herbs & spices.
